Issues & Plans

As women, we are constantly pressured by social media, billboards, and even relationships to look a certain way. We know that our identity is found in Christ, but it doesn’t make the mirror any more forgiving. It’s hard to remind ourselves of truth when we can’t turn on the TV or drive down the street without being bombarded by lies of what we “need” to make ourselves beautiful.

To Marry or Not to Marry?

Because your relationship with the living God is God’s primary call on your life, it has to take precedence over all other relationships in your life. In the case of Jeremiah, this relationship with the living God affected all his major decisions about other relationships, including marriage.

As with all major decisions about the relationships of life, God will guide us and tell us what He wants for us. We are free to choose to either obey or disobey the promptings of the Spirit. We are not free, however, to choose the consequences of our actions! If Jeremiah had not allowed his relationship with God to rule all his other relationships, he would have faced even more intense personal loss and suffering.

Before I became a Christian, the girl who led me to the Lord asked me whether I was willing to stay unmarried if I became a follower of Jesus. “Why would I need to stay unmarried?” I inquired, startled. “Aren’t there any Christian men around?”

So right at the beginning of my Christian life I realized that my relationship with God had to be more important than any other relationship in my life. And how could it be more important if I was disregarding what He had clearly stated in His Word?

What does shared male-female lay ministry look like in the church?

Scripture calls men and women to be co-laborers and partners in ministry. With the ongoing debate about gender roles and male-female relationships—both in the church and outside—how do we reclaim that collaborative vision, again, irrespective of one’s view on women’s ordination? Remember that not all men in our churches are ordained ministers. In fact, the majority are not. We work together in the church by making spaces and ways for all laity, both men and women, to be encouraged and equipped to use their gifts in ministry, not so people can follow their proverbial passions, but so we can equip and disciple all of Christ’s church. That’s the goal as Jesus laid out in Matthew 28.

Live Uncommon

Lord, thank You for showing me how vital gratitude is to growing my faith. I want to be all in! Would You please give me the spiritual eyes and ears to find Your goodness in my everyday life, as well as in those times where darkness is thick? Sometimes it’s hard to look past my circumstances and see where You are. Remind me to praise You throughout my day so we stay connected rather than letting the hard times pull me under. Help me focus not on what was lost, but rather on what I have left. And help my attitude of gratitude be a model for others who need to know You are good all the time. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Praise Brings Proximity

“Go through His gates, giving thanks; walk through His courts, giving praise. Offer Him your gratitude and praise His holy name” (Psalm 100:4, VOICE). Praise brings you closer to God. Think about the connection you feel during worship. So often, it brings me to tears because I feel His presence thick around me. Or maybe it’s those moments when you’re on your knees thanking God for intervening that make you feel closer than ever. It’s in His presence that our gratitude is activated.

vanity

First, it behooves us to think about our own mortality. This insight wouldn’t be news to Qohelet, the Preacher-King who penned the book of Ecclesiastes. He writes from the vantage point of someone who’s tasted an entire orchard of worldly fruits, including work, pleasure, power, wealth, and wisdom. His assessment in the end: Those successes were as permanent as the smoke from a fire and as meaningful as an unsolvable riddle. The Hebrew word hebel, which is translated as “meaningless” in the NIV and as “vanity” in the KJV, is used 33 times throughout the book. The word carries connotations of futility and delusion, but in context of the whole Book of Ecclesiastes, it also gestures toward the strange and subtle liberation that comes with embracing our own death.

The body of believers that assemble for Maximised Lifestyle International meetings, do so to give glory to God. In meetings, we attempt to learn and share in a capacity that will enhance the spiritual life of the believer. By singing, praising God, worship, preaching and teaching, exhorting, and sharing, we extend the family and body of Christ from sisters, mothers, aunts here to the entire world. We purpose to love the ladies for who they are and not what they have. Accept their differences, not ostracize them. Lock arms with them and be their support, not walk away in their time of need. And above all, “do good to all people, especially those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10b)

Huldah is the only female prophet in the book of Kings. They trusted that Huldah would prophesy the truth; it didn’t matter that she was a prophetess.
